let me just summarize the feel of each direction.

kylie: spca constraints
bern: organizing teens
tricia: defrost chick
albert: party cup
xuefen: b ball girl
carina: red cross patriot

ah kwang: chairs, teachers and students???

these direction might change based on the balance of problem and solution creation as we go along!

BIG GAMEPLAN UPDATE!

our BIG GAMEPLAN shows that we are now at the end of WEEK4 and starting WEEK5!

initial design brief should be in by now.... if not, at least have a "direction" already; where you have a NEED/STORY/SITUATION to work on.
PLAYING with GOOGLE SKETCHUP already?? got ITCHING IDEAS already??

___________________________________________________
designcrews with "direction":

ALBERT: already have a good context of human behaviour at a FUN FUNCTION/EVENT, just need to really understand the needs of a person when holding a disposable cup when at a party! he went to a second reunion dinner function, i hope he realize that the event could be a RESEARCH TRIP!

CARINA: red cross to blood donation drive! her GAMEPLAN2 sounds very exciting as she is on a quest to go for a BLOOD DONATION herself, another meaningful RESEARCH TRIP!! she will surprise us with a "BLOOD-Y" need soon...

how about the rest of you? are you making your design process as exciting as these 2 designcrews?
__________________________________________________________

HOW I SHOULD BE DOING GAMEPLAN 2
1. reflect on GAMEPLAN1: did i manage to do as i plan? why not?
2. reflect on my DESIGN PROCESS: what is my need? have I chosen a good problem/idea? have I used the right design tools?
3. my next MINIPLAN: what am I going to do next in detail? have I taken account of the small details of human behavour? do i need to do a RESEARCH TRIP to find out more? am I on track based on our BIG GAMEPLAN?

LAST IMPT QUESTION: HAVE I FOUND THE TIME TO CONSULT MISTERFIZ OR HAVE I BEEN SLACKING?

just click on comments, this is your...

CONSULTATION SPACE
I WILL TRY TO 'UNSTUCK' YOUR STUCK SYNDROME.
STATE WHAT YOU HAVE DONE BEFORE YOU EXPLAIN WHY YOU ARE STUCK.
IF YOU NEED TO POST IMAGES, DIRECT ME TO YOUR BLOG!

Ask the right question | design inquiry [REVISED]

chang had a problem looking at a scenario and coming out with 'fresh' problems/needs/ideas.

we went through a photo together and kind of see a different way of looking at things, we looked at the CONTEXT behavior. Different context will bring out the different details of people's actions.
let's hope these set of slides will guide you guys and gals better in getting "innovative" problems or what CJ called it; "problems which people do not think of"! from a simple photo analysis.

and based on the above inquiries, the whole class 'dialogued' on the picture below during the previous lesson. remember this? I hope so!

THEME THINK TANK assignment!

this post is for designcrew01:

"...DO NOT JUMP THE GUN..." and "...THINK BEFORE YOU SHOOT..."

very interesting debates we had last thurs. what was shocking was my mood swings!!
good that you guys are honest with me. it was not mood-swings, it was a reflection of my temperaments and your enthusiasm about work!

anyway, starting points are limitless in designing, what is important is WHAT YOU DO to the STARTING POINT and where to "jump" next in the DESIGN PROCESS, which is what I will see on MONDAY! yahooo!!

the best part is I WILL VIDEOTAPE TOMM'S SESSION!

reiterating on THUR's lesson.

starting points as discussed:
DB: a design brief could just "pop" out anytime anywhere! [farhana's better chair!]
design tools: mindmap, moodboard, PIES, product analysis, photo analysis, etc [good that all gave input on these]
dialogue: feeding each other intellectually will trigger alot of issues and ideas [our discussion lead to many things being said and we end up dragging the lesson... fruitfully i guess??]
interest: your personal interest will "kill two birds with one stone"... passion and grades! [thank you mr zaidi!]
theme: relate everything you see to TIDINESS
problem: make sure its authentic and real and "innovative".... get it? "innovative"
idea: these are always welcome anytime anyplace anyone

document your starting point and decide what you are going to do with them. your GAMEPLAN 1 should explain all these.

For tomm's Theme Think Tank Gallery Walk aka Assignment #4:
-Each group to present 4 starting points taken from your journal.
-Relate each starting point with the theme, TIDINESS and lead it to an idea or a need.
-All your thoughts/sketches/photos should be reflected on the A2 size paper given.

try not to do double work, whatever you put on the A2 size paper should just come from your journal. be creative.

here are some images for your THINKING pleasure. you may use them for tomorrow if you want.
